The engineering services are included in the scope of Progresstech, Ltd. activities. Building up such a structure is related to a new management strategy of the Progresstech Group of Companies and plans for its prospective development. Therefore you ought not to think about created Progresstech, Ltd. as a company starting from scratch: we have got enough resources accumulated for years of work in the parent company – JSC NPO Progresstech. I have personally worked in the company since 1993 as many of my colleagues who have devoted much time to the company.
Since 1993 we have provided engineering services to Boeing Corporation and since 1999, the services on aviation designing. The works started by certification of the Boeing 777 landing gear – an interaction between a new landing gear modification and runway pavements should be evaluated. Upon testing we introduced revisions in the ICAO procedure for evaluation of such equipment impact and suggested a new edition that has been worldwide approved. After tests the airplane was admitted for operation on the international air traffic market. This successfull first-project experience of cooperation allowed us to establish further partnership relations with Boeing Corporation. Today Boeing is a strategic partner of our company. However not the only one – we cooperate with other aviation corporations both abroad (e.g. Spirit AeroSystems) and in Russia (e.g. Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company), air carriers and large airports in Russia and worldwide.
At present the main lines of the company activities comprise engineering services in aviation construction, design of civil aviation ground support infrastructure facilities, researches and engineering in airport technologies, certification of airports and airfields as well as aviation consulting. So, both list of customers and portfolio of services are well diversified. And thus indicates the operating stability for perspectives.
The level of design works we perform allows now to state that we take leading positions. We were awarded with a bid for feasibility studies on construction of a new runway complex at Sheremetyevo International Airport. We performed works on the apron expansion project at Vnukovo International Airport. We have been involved in design, construction, repair and certification with assistance of other companies for Domodedovo International Airport. Also we are actively engaged for works in a number of airports in Russian regions and CIS countries.
We try to execute each project from the very begining till close-out by our own strength. But if a necessity arises to provide works for a large comprehensive project, we shall act as an integrator joining specialized firms. We have never thought in a narrow way and always proceeded to new tasks based on the opportunity to implement the skills as accumulated in the company. In particular, as for Sheremetyevo Airport, its development is being performed just according to such a comprehensive trend. Also we are experienced in working on larger projects of this kind, for instance, we participated in generating the Moscow Aviation System development concepts.
Besides, we render research services being a basis for development of advanced technical and engineering solutions in design and construction. Among such services are matemathical modeling, full-scale experiments, monitoring of actually operating facilities, environmental assessment of aviation operation.
Training of highly skilled engineers is an activity that shall never be of mass character but always tailored. Progresstech has created an environment allowing to prepare professional specialists from young newcomers. We have quite a number of engineers having a vast work experience and started their careers in civil and military organization in the former USSR. These engineers have gained experience to transfer to our young employees. In addition, we actively hire young specialists cooperating with the governing boards and administration of Moscow State University, Moscow Aviation Institute (State University of Aerospace Technologies), Moscow State Technical University n.a. N.E. Bauman and other leading universities and colleges. To withstand the so-called “brain drain” we are establishing a system of the employees’ corporate loyalty in Progresstech, Ltd.. And for the purpose, in addition to the material encouragement we implement a series of actions aimed at forming the vision of values, missions, perspectives and priorities of the corporate development by each our employee.

In developing separate buildings and facilities the designers have met challenges to select appropriate equipment and obtain the customer’s approval thereof, have studied planning options and details of equipment location within the building and its connection to engineering system networks. Such considerable project complying with national and worldwide norms and standards could be executed owning to the effective team working by the Customer – Vnukovo Invest Company, the Operator – Vnukovo Fuel Supply Company and several specialized design entities.

Prof. Vladimir Kulchitsky in his interview reviewed a staggering development of the company: “Progresstech is a multi-component structure. Nowadays only Progresstech engineering services organization includes three departments, namely Airports and Infrastructure Design Department, Aerospace Engineering Department and Research, Certification & Consulting Department. Involved in the project activities are about 800 highly skilled engineers, including 100 engineers in the airport planning and design, 600 engineers in the aircraft design and 100 experts in the civil aviation consultancy.

Recently an event of outstanding importance has occurred in Moscow: CJSC «Sukhoi Civil Aircraft» and OJSC «Aeroflot — Russian Airlines» have announced a firm order for delivery of thirty Russian Regional Jet (RRJ) aircraft. Under the Contract Aeroflot orders thirty RRJ95 in basic configuration. The total deal is valued at approximately 820 mln USD at list prices.
