Project Description
The Russian Federation government assigned the transfer of property for Tunoshna military airport to Yaroslavl region administration by Act No. 1038-R dated August 13, 1998. JSC Progresstech was engaged as general designer in the project on transforming the military airport into a civil one. The project on rehabilitation and expansion of Tunoshna Airport was a long-term construction plan to be carried out in several phases. The following works were performed for a period from 1999 to 2003:
- reinforcement of the existing runway (2500 õ 44 m);
- extension of the runway up to 3000 m;
- reconstruction of existing taxiways;
- construction of a new taxiway;
- construction of airport terminal building and landside;
- reconstruction of passenger apron;
- construction of cargo apron;
- reconstruction of radio aids, ATC and landing systems facilities ;
- construction of customs operation complex;
- reconstruction of airport administration building and ATC tower, fire-fighting and rescue station and parking garage;
- construction of access motor road;
- installation of perimeter fencing of the airport.

The project was aimed at managing all-freight services considering the requirements of the Federal customs complex.
The Progresstech specialists have developed and introduced a new technology of special protection units – explosive protective chambers ÂÇÊ-01 capable to take a blast load of 800 g TNT equivalent.
The compulsory certification is to be performed by the airport certification agency and appropriate regional certification bodies duly accredited by the Russian Federation air transport certification system. Widely used for certification are relevant certification centers and testing laboratories.
The increase of the performance period of airfield and roadway pavements depends on such factors as proper operation, adequate maintenance and timely running repair to be performed in accordance with the relevant norms and standards.
