The Vnukovo Airport authorities have commissioned Progresstech, Ltd. to develop a comprehensive project on reconstruction of the aviation fuel supply facilities. Several allied design offices have been also involved in this project, and Progresstech has been responsible for coordination of their activities.
The developers have come a long way in their work, from development of the urban planning justification, engineering researches, worldwide experience analysis, equipment selection to the project development proper.
The project provides for a full reconstruction and improvement of the existing fuels-and-oils depot, construction of a new fuel filling station in front of the apron and construction of the centralized fueling system on aircraft stands.
The reconstruction of the fuels-and-oils depot includes construction of vertical 42,000-m3 tank farm to store aviation fuels, grade TS-1 and Jet A-1, and horizontal tank farm to store and release the automotive fuel and anti-acing fluid; two-way fuel dischage railroad ramp designed for simultaneous unloading of 22 tank cars; ground transport fuel load/feed stations and pump stations. Also, the design fuels-and-oils depot comprises an office building with laboratory, fire-fighting service station, maintenance service block, storage facilities, oil station, power substation, wastewater treatment facilties, checkpoint and car parking area.
The fuel filling station in front of the ramp as provided by the project comprises a series of points to fill in aviation fuel (grades Jet A-1, ÒS-1), including anti-acing fuid fill-in points.
The centralized fueling system provides servicing of 40 aircraft on their stands located around Vnukovo-1 terminal complex being under construction.
In developing separate buildings and facilities the designers have met challenges to select appropriate equipment and obtain the customer’s approval thereof, have studied planning options and details of equipment location within the building and its connection to engineering system networks. Such considerable project complying with national and worldwide norms and standards could be executed owning to the effective team working by the Customer – Vnukovo Invest Company, the Operator – Vnukovo Fuel Supply Company and several specialized design entities.
