Progressive Technologies of Designing

Airports International Review, Russian edition, November 2008

Sergey A. Usanov, Ph.D., Director, Airports Design Programs, Progresstech, Ltd.

Designing is among a priority and dynamically developing lines of Progresstech, Ltd. activities. The services on designing buildings and facilities are rendered by the Progresstech department – Airports and Infrastructures Design Department and also design offices of other members of Progresstech Group of Companies.

The range of works executed by designers comprises development of business plans and concepts, feasibility studies, general development layouts, approvable sections of projects and working documentation on construction. Projects include development of special sections such as environmental impact assessment, cost effectiveness, construction management and procedures and others. And among the design objects are airfields and their separate elements such as runways, taxiways and aircraft stands; passenger and cargo handling terminals; hangars; navaids, landing system and ATC facilities; lighting equipment systems; aircraft construction and repair bases facilities.

However the Design Department activities are not limited only to aviation industry projects. It has recently developed a number of projects on reconstruction of hotel, and construction of business center, supermarket, restaurants.

The design projects cover geographically nearly the whole Russia - from Kaliningrad to Kamchatka, from Barents Sea to the Caucasus and also CIS countries – Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Kazhakhstan and Belarus.

Throughout its existance the design department of our company has been involved in the works at over 50 sites and released more than 190 projects.

During the current year we have completed the projects on feasibility studies for development of the largest Russian airports – Domodedovo International Airport and Sheremetyevo International Airport. Each of these projects provides for construction of the new (third) runways and expansion of airport infrastructure: ramps, aprons, terminals, engineering system facilities etc.
