On December 15, Boeing 787 Dreamliner, a new commercial airplane manufactured by Boeing U.S. aerospace corporation performed its first successful test flight lasting over three hours over the territory of State of Washington, U.S.A.
This event provoking a great interest worldwide has been of an utmost importance for Progresstech Russian company which has been participated in the development program for a new-generation jetliner - Boeing 787 Dreamliner since 2004. Now involved in projects under the contracts signed by and between Boeing and Progresstech on the basis of Boeing Design Center in Moscow are nearly 700 Progresstech engineers, and 400 among them are working on the Boeing 787 program.
Progresstech engineers were responsible for engineering backup in development of Boeing 787 main components, including unique design of fuselage nose section, engine pylons and all-composite wing.
The latest-design Boeing 787 is half made of advanced composite materials. Also the new jetliner has a more efficient sound proofing system, produces less emissions and consumes 20 % less fuel as compared to airliners of the same size.
